Banding of Canadian Geese

During migrations, you might come across Canadian Geese that have yellow, orange, blue or other collar bands on them. These are used to help track migrations.

These birds were seen in Oct 2003 on the Connecticut coastland. I've also seen banded geese in several other locations in New England.

The bird banding of Canadian Geese is coordinated by the Bird Banding Laboratory and are usually 3 or 4 digit codes. If you see a bird with a band, report its number there.
