Colonial Chickens and Oxen

These lovely black chickens and rooster were seen at Old Sturbridge Village, an 1840s recreation village in Massachusetts. I've even included a photo of oxen!

The OSV contact says:

Our chickens are a mix of Silver Dorking, Speckled Sussex and Dominique breeds. The rooster that is black with a white collare and red comb is a dorking. The hens you described are most likely also dorkings, but there are some birds that are mixes as well. All three of these base breeds are old English breeds that are representative of what was kept in the early nineteenth century in New England.
