Chipping Sparrow Photos and InformationThe Chipping Sparrow, or Spizella passerina, is extremely common in both the US and Canada. It is most easily identified by its red-brown cap and the white stripe above a dark black stripe which goes right through its eye. It has brown striped feathers and a dull white breast.![]() Chipping sparrows can be drawn to both regular seed and black oiled sunflower seeds.
