Birding Glossary - Mobbing
Mobbing is when a flock of smaller birds attacks a larger, predatory bird in an attempt to drive it away. For example, lots of wrens might fly at a hawk to keep it away from their nesting area. Crows are another bird that will gang up on an owl or hawk that ventures into their area.
