Communications Relay
Ground Control is great in many ways. In one way, it's because it offers a tutorial of three parts that you can go through to learn how to move the camera, move units, and so on. This means that the first real mission isn't the normal pushover mission that is merely teaching you how to move, but actually has some teeth to it.
You begin your first mission finding that you are Major Sarah Parker - working for Enrica Hayes. It's unusual to have a strategy game featuring a woman working for another woman, and I find this interesting. You can choose which difficulty level to play the game at, and configure your drop ship with whatever units are available to you at the time. Note that units carry over from mission to mission, and if you kill one off completely you can't use it again, so never let a unit become totally killed.
