Grape Hyacinth
The Grape Hyacinth, or Muscari racemosum, is found in many temperate zones. It is one of the first bloomers of the spring, coming after the daffodil and crocusses by only a week or so. The purple blooms sort of look like grapes, and some say the gentle aroma is also grape-like.
Hyacinths were loved by the Greeks and Romans, and Virgil wrote about them. The Grape Hyacinth is a classic English Garden plant. They enjoy full sun to light shade. A purple hyacinth given to someone indicates you are sorry and wish to be forgiven.
