Tiger Lily Growing Information and Photos

I love the Tiger Lily flower. When I spent time with my grandmother in West Haven, Connecticut, she grew beautiful tiger lilies in her garden. I always wanted to have some in my own garden. They are quite different from the day lilies which are all over the place. Even though both are orange in color, the daylilies bloom in clumps, with lots of plants coming up from a central pile of greenery. With the tiger lily, it has one main stalk that blooms come off of that last a while. The tiger lily hails from China and is known as Lilium henryi.

These Lillies grow in Massachusetts. The stems start to come up in mid-April and the blooms appear in July. They are pretty hearty and grow well even in partial shade. I need to give them a stake or they fall over.
