Eggplant
Growing Information and Photos

These photos are all courtesy of Mensa Gardening SIG members. These Eggplant grow in Massachusetts. Enjoy!

I grow the Japanese Long Purple Eggplant in New England. I pre-planted the seeds in March and put them out in early May. The seeds take 15 days to germinate, you harvest in 100 days. Plant the plants 15" apart.

Eggplants love full sun and fertile soil. They have a long growing season compared to other plants so be sure to start these early. I like the long shape, they're great for slicing into long strips and grilling. Pick these when they get to be about 2" in diameter and are glossy, not turning dull.

Our eggplants are growing VERY slowly ...
