Genealogy Site of the Month - May, 2001![]() Chosen by Genealogy @ BellaOnline for the month of May, 2001. The winner of the genealogy Site of the Month Award for May, 2001 is the Canadian Genealogical Projects Registry. Sponsored by the Alberta Family Histories Society, this growing site is an excellent example of what can be done using the Internet. The Registry lists records extraction projects that are underway, still being planned or those that have been completed. This registry is unique, in that it make information available for off-line resources as well as those on the Web. Works-in-progress are included to lessen the possibility of a duplication of effort by more than one group or individual. A lengthy page of online Research Aids is also included. The Canadian Genealogical Projects Registry is an easy-to-use site that takes a no-frills approach and loads quickly. The New England Historic Genealogical Society made the Registry the winner of their first Genealogy Technology Achievement Award.
