Genealogy.com Website ReviewOne of the largest websites for genealogy researchers is genealogy.com. It can be pricey to join, but the rewards are amazing! There is a two week free signup trial so I *highly* recommend you sign up for the full gold level, which gives you access to all of their data INCLUDING online census data for just about every US census there is. You can test it out for FREE for two weeks to learn everything you want to learn. If you choose to stay with them, it's around $130/year, which is only just over $10/month. This gets you a free copy of their software, plus unlimited access to their site, their forums, their instructional pages and much more. I signed up to test out the system and dove into the census pages. Within seconds I was looking at the actual images of the 1880 census for Westchester County, New York. A few more clicks and I'd found information on a name for one of my family trees. It was that easy! Sure, you can trek down to your local NARA office and do it for free - but that involves working around their limited hours, driving many hours in some cases and digging through boxes to find what you need. With genealogy.com they're always updating the site, you can do it in your pajamas at any time of the day or night. Highly recommended whether you're just getting started in genealogy or you're deep into it and need to track down those missing pieces. It's much easier to page through hundreds of census pages on a might-be-lucky wild goose chase than to do it in the middle of a hot NARA microfilm room! Genealogy.com
