Genealogy Site of the Month - May, 2002![]() Chosen by Genealogy @ BellaOnline for the month of May, 2002. The winner of the genealogy Site of the Month Award for May, 2002 is The Civil War in West Virginia. This site was chosen in part because I consider it a terrific example of the kind of genealogy web site we are all seeking. The sheer volume of articles and links will provide most visitors with plenty of reading material and recommendations of other helpful sites. Obviously, the site will be of special interest to those researching West Virginia residents, but quite a bit of information is available about the state of Virginia. The close ties between the two states make researching in both of them necessary. Finding Great-Granddad in the Civil War is one feature article containing basic information that would be helpful to anyone researching a Civil War veteran--no matter which state he called home. Other highlights include information about Union and Confederate regiments, a list of historic sites around the state, events calendar, and links to other helpful web pages. Pay a visit The Civil War in West Virginia--you may be surprised at the information you will locate.
