Recording a Memorial Day VideoMemorial Day is often a time of families gathering together and sharing stories. Be sure to pull out your video camera and get some recordings done! I have in fact bought DVD players for my older relatives as presents, so I could easily send them DVDs every season with new video greetings. It's so easy to record video greetings on our home camera, turn them into DVDs, and send those out to our relatives around the world. Memorial Day is all about memories, and when you have family picnics it's the perfect time to put those together. Simply wander around with the camera. If you hear someone telling a story, turn on the camera. If you see someone sitting alone, sit beside them and ask them to tell you a story. Some ideas to get things going are - * The first time they drove a car * Their first movie they remember seeing * Their first trip to the beach or ocean * Their favorite foods as a child * Memories of their grandparents * A famous person they met The story doesn't need to be earth-shattering. Sometimes it is the quiet stories that really mean the most. The more memories you can preserve even during these casual family get-togethers and picnics, the more you can share your world with those who are far away ... and perhaps with those who are currently too young to appreciate the stories!
