Genealogy Holiday Present - Voice and VideoThe ultimate record of genealogy stories is told in the person's own voice and in their own style. Go through all of your old cassettes, Super-8s and VHS tapes and convert them into a holiday present that will be treasured forever. Yes it is great and VERY important to document the people that you have around today. But it is equally as important (if not MORE important) to preserve those older stories that were recorded 10 or 20 years ago. The systems those were stored on - cassette tape and film - are very prone to wear and tear and if not converted soon, could be lost forever. If you convert those files to CD and DVD files, they will be safe from meltdown, and you can give them as holiday presents this year! You can easily distribute them to family members no matter how far away, and spend holiday get-togethers watching them and enjoying the memories. In fact, in a way, this makes those memories MORE safe. Even if the copy you own is destroyed in a fire or other accident, you will know there are still many other copies out there, each a perfect replica of the original. This has been a personal project of mine for the past 2 years and it has worked AMAZINGLY well. When we watch the videos with older relatives, we learn many new things that might not have otherwise been thought of. We've been able to share the videos with distant relatives who had never seen then. And we've preserved memories which in many cases were on the point of falling apart!
