VirtualDub - Repairing an Invalid AVI File
Loading a MPG File onto YouTube
I use !Quick Screen Recorder by Etrusoft to create my AVI files of things I do on my computer. This software is great at making an AVI file that QuickTime can read - but unfortunately, Adobe Premiere has problems reading this in. It will play the audio soundtrack, but the video feed is blank. To fix this, I use the free software program VirtualDub.
You can download VirtualDub from the VirtualDub Download Site. It's free and easy. Once you start it up, you simply open up the AVI file you're having problems with. Then save it again. When VirtualDub saves the AVI file it'll save it in the most standard way possible. That way you can use it on whatever program you wish!
It may take a while - it took me 3 hours to process a 10 minute video - but it's free, and it's easy.
