John E. Corrigan There were two James Fitzsimmons in the directory for 1849. One does not appear in the census and the other was the city collecter. He was born in Ireland and 40. He did not have any children. There was also a Michael Fitzsimmons family. His wife was Bridget Buckely. They had a son Michael who was a priest in Chicago. He died in 1932. There was a Mrs. Fitzsimmons in the 1849 directory who does not seem to be in the census; nor in the 1851 directory. There is a Thomas Fitzsimmons who was 40 and a wife Mary, not sure of her age. Two sons Patrick 10, born in Ire and Thomas 8, born in PA. I have a friend who has Cavan Fitzsimmons relations. They appear to have been from Killashandra Parish which has had an excellent book written about it. The 1841 Irish census for this parish is still in existence. My great grandmoter's sister, Bridget McGurk, married a John Fitzsimmons in Chicago about 1885. They had a bunch of kids in a tiny cottage not far from the stock yards. Three of the daughters became nursing nuns. Some of the early parish records for Chicago have been microfilmed by the Mormons and you might look up St. Patrick and St. Mary parishes for a possible baptismal record for your folks.
