Riordan Links

My Riordans are connected to Catherine Riordan in North Attleboro, MA, born 1885. Her parents were John Riordan and Mary Curley. John's were Michael Riordan, born 1822 County Cork, and Alice Doran who he married here in the states. John's were William and Julie Riordan, and that's all I know.

I do have research notes on the Riordans in County Cork located here.

I've recently come across info that indicates a connection between my LYNCH family, who emigrated to the Boston area in the 1830's, and a family of Riordans who were also from the area just east of Macroom along the River Lee (Cannavee, Aglish area). They emigated sometime prior to the 1850's and I'm just beginning to look for them in New England/NY. Would any of your research concern a Riordan family from that area of Cork? Also, I did find a reference to a Michael Riordan, who was in Boston in August 1848, inquiring about Johanna Kearney and her children Mary, Ellen, Thomas, Maurice, Patrick, William, Richard and Peter, natives of Doone, parish of Arduaguna, co Cork.

It looks like the RIORDAN family was from a townland named Cannavee which is located about 5 or 6 miles east of Macroom on the River Lee in co Cork and at this early stage of my research it appears that three brothers named TIMOTHY, JOHN (emigr 1836) and THOMAS (emigr. 1833) RIORDAN emigrated to Massachusetts during the 1830's followed by sisters HONORA (emigr. 1849) and BESS. The parents were JOHN RIORDAN and MARGARET (Mahoney). Unknown if parents came to U.S. Any further info concerning any RIORDANs who may be from the same family would be appreciated. Thanks.
