The obituary of Gaetano Pesce appeared on page 2 of the Portland Press Herald of October 9, 956, and reads as follows:
GAETANO PESCE
Gaetano Pesce, 81, of 144 Veranda St., died suddenly Wednesday afternoon at his home. He was born in Calvanico, Italy, and came here when he was 21. For the past 40 years he ran a filling station and store on Veranda Street.
He was a communicant of St. Peter's Church.
Mr. Pesce leaves his widow, the former Mary Lisi:
six sons,
Ferdinand M. of Westbrook,
Albert of Portland,
Michael of North Attleboro, Mass.,
Roco of Naples, Maine,
Ralph of Scarborough,
and Anthony of Portland:
a daughter, Mrs. Genevieve Shea of North Attleboro:
20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday from 152 Cumberland Ave. with a High Mass of Requiem in St. Peter's Church at 9 a.m.
