SHEA GENEOLOGY
VIRGINIA O'SHEA
My father's family is from Kanturk, Co. Cork. The farthest back we can
trace is to the marriage of Bartholomew O'Shea (my great-great
grandfather) and Mary Galvin in 1842 in Dromtariffe Parish, Dioscese of
Kerry. They had 6 children:
Michael (b. 1843 who married Ellen O'Connor)
Catherine (b.1845; believed to have died young)
Mary (b.1849 who died young)
William (b. 1852- may have emigrated to England)
Bartholomew (b.1855)
Catherine (b. 1857 d. 1937 who married David Farissey)
and lastly our direct ancestor who was Timothy (Taddie) O'Shea
(b. 1859- d. 1936 who married Mary Moylan and later Johanna Moylan) and
emigrated some time before 1895. He was a carpenter for Cunard Cruise
Lines. We have not been able to find record on him, but have been told
that he was part of the Fighting 69th during the American Civil War.
We still have strong roots in Kanturk, Co. Cork, but believe that we
might have come from Kerry.
