SHEA IN New Bedford, MA
I was trying to hunt down Matthew Shea in New Bedford, MA. He enlisted in the Mass 3rd Regiment in 1862 there, claiming he was from there. When he left he went to Attleboro, MA.
However, there were no Sheas at all in 1856. Nor in 1859, nor in 1865.
In 1867-8 there were 14 Sheas:
Bartholomew
Daniel
Deniis
Hannah
Hannah A
Jeremiah
John (5 of them)
Michael
Patrick
Thomas
There were no Matthews in the 1869-70 directory.
No Matthews in the 1860 or 1870 census listings, either.
