Hello Lisa, My Charles Oxendine was in Hawkins County Tennessee in 1840. He was the one born abt 1814 and married Ursailla?. This is my direct line. Charles is my ggggreat grandfather. My lineage is Naomi born 1937, Charley born 1905, Jerry born 1872, Archibald born 1839, Charles born 1814. I have Archibald born 1759 in Overton County TN in 1840, John F. born abt 1805 in Hawkins County TN in 1840, Levi born abt. 1808 in Overton County TN in 1840, Charles born abt 1814 in Hawkins County TN in 1840, Nathaniel born abt in Hawkins County TN in 1840. Below is what I have as the first two generations of my Oxendines. I listed the census information as part of the notes. Descendants of Archibald W. Oxendine Generation No. 1 1. ARCHIBALD W.1 OXENDINE was born August 26, 1759 in a place near the Pee Dee River in South Carolina, and died September 03, 1869 in Benton Creek, Crawford County, Missouri. He married PATSY SHOEMAKE. She was born Abt. 1790 in South Carolina, and died Bet. 1850 - 1859. More About ARCHIBALD W. I, after speaking with others and looking at certain documentation believe that her last name is Shoemake and not Quackenbush. I have not been able to document any families of Quackenbush living near a family of Oxendines. I also have not been able to document the marriage of Archibald and Patsy. I have seen in the 1800 Marion District, Liberty County, South Carolina census a Cudworth Oxendine living near three families of Shoemake; Samson, Solomon, and James. I also have a copy of an application to claim Indian status made by a William S. Oxendine born January 5, 1826, he lists his parents as Levi and Clara Haynes Oxendine, and states he was born in Overton County, Tennessee and states his grandparents as Archibald and Patsy Shoemake Oxendine and William and Martha Haynes all born in South Ca! rolina. Because of the preceding information I have decided to list Patsy as Patsy Shoemake.
