MargaritaGrill in Auburn Restaurant ReviewWe eat at MargaritaGrill fairly regularly. It's quite conveniently located in Auburn, right in with all of the shopping areas. There is always a booth open, and the booths are really comfy and great. They are vinyl in "nooks" with pierced-tin lamps and old signs on the walls. There are also regular tables in the center of the room area, if you prefer those. There is a sports bar area, and even a library where you are surrounded by old books that you can read while you eat. MargaritaGrill is, as you might guess, a Mexican restaurant. You have to take that term loosely when you at in New England, of course. I have many friends who grew up down by the Mexican border and they laugh when then compare our "Mexican Food" up here in New England to anything remotely authentic. Apparently most New England tongues cannot handle real spice, and as a result all Mexican restaurants up here range from extremely bland to mildly bland. Still, you take what you can get. Service is fast and friendly, and they give you a free bowl of nachos plus salsa (mild) to munch on while you order. I typically get a burrito plate, while my boyfriend enjoys the taco salad. We've tried a variety of drinks and other dishes, and in general they are served quickly and with nice flavors. Yes, you get all the "Americanized favorites" here - tacos, burritos, chimichangas, etc. You're not going to find anything very authentic or spicy. Still, most New Englanders don't *want* "real" Mexican food when they go out, any more than they want "real" Chinese food. They want the comfortable, easy to eat versions they've grown up with. MargaritaGrill certainly provides that! Well recommended as a fine, casual dining spot with good food and friendly service.
