1969 Christmas Stamp - 6 Cent Horse - Stamp PhotosI was born in 1969 so this year has special meaning to me. The stamp for this year is very pretty. On the right and left are green borders that say "Christmas" and "6c United States".
The inner image appears to be a painting. It shows a pair of people by a tree and a wooden fence. On the other side of the fence is a snowy lane with two horses pulling a red sleigh. There's a pinkish church with a steeple, and across the street is a yellow colonial style house with a tree in front of it.
It is "Winter Sunday in Norway Maine" painted around 1870. The artist is unknown, it is considered "folk art". This painting can be seen at the Fenimore Art Museum in New York.
This is the Scott Catalogue #1384 Stamp.
This stamp is very common, and a used stamp is only worth about 1 cent.
Here are my images! I have over 40 different copies of this stamp. Did I mention these things were very common?
