1970 Christmas Stamp - 6 Cent Nativity

This stamp is of Joseph and Mary both looking down over the infant Jesus in a wicker crib. There are angels up above and a barn in the background. below the image it says in blue letters Christmas 6c US, and above that in tiny letters National Gallery of Art - Lotto.

This image is called "Nativity" and is by Lorenzo Lotto. He did the painting in 1523 in Venice. The image is now in the Samuel H. Kress Collection at the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC.

This is the Scott Catalogue #1414 Stamp. It was released on November 5, 1970.

This stamp is reasonably common, and a used stamp is worth about ?? cents.
