1972 Christmas Stamp - 8 Cent Angels

This image has a central picture of a pair of angels, the main one in a green with gold tunic and white wings. Above it there are the words Christmas in black. Below in black it says Master of St. Lucy Legend / National Gallery of Art 8c US.

This is "a detail of the painting Mary, Queen of Heaven. It was done around 1485-1500 by an unknown artist known as the Master of the St. Lucy Legend. He worked in Bruges. The image is in the Samuel H. Kress Collection, at the National Gallery of Art, Washington DC.

This is the Scott Catalogue #1471 Stamp.

This stamp is reasonably common, and a used stamp is worth about ?? cents.
