If you are trying to get pregnant, or are pregnant already, it is important that your diet has a full supply of calcium in it.

Calcium is important for women in general, to keep their bones strong. It helps keep your teeth strong as well, and is necessary for your nervous system and blood clotting. For all of these reasons, is even more important for a pregnant or trying-to-get-pregnant woman to have adequate calcium. This mineral is critical for her new infant, so its teeth, bones, nervous system and blood are all formed properly.

You can of course take a calcium pill - and Tums is usually my favorite way to do that. It helps settle your stomach, which many stressed out people can relate to. But it's far healthier to get calcium from fresh foods, and those foods will give you many other health benefits as well.

Calcium-rich foods include:

dairy products
kale
broccoli
cabbage
salmon
sardines
tofu
