Pine trees were incredibly powerful fertility symbols to the Celtic cultures. Everything from needles to pinecones and nuts were used to bring fertility.

Pinecones and pine nuts would be gathered at night and then put into satchels to form fertility charms, carried by the woman hoping to conceive. Often they would be put under her pillow as she slept.
