Niels Bohr Dream leads to Nobel Prize

While some dreams are about flying or taking tests, others can change the world. Niels Bohr got the Nobel Prize in physics in 1922 due to a dream that enlightened him.

Niels Bohr was born in Copenhagen, Denmark on October 7, 1885. His family was very into academics - his father was a professor, his mother was also greatly involved with education. Niels got his Doctorate in 1911 in physics. He became well known almost immediately for his great skill in deciphering problems that the physics world was wrestling with.

Soon, Neils was trying to figure out what the structure of an atom was. He worked out many different designs, but none seemed to fit. Finally, one evening he went to sleep. In his dreams, he saw the nucleus of the atom, with the electronis spinning around it, just like our solar system with the sun and planets.

When he woke up, he knew what his answer was. Further testing and experiments proved it to be true, and in 1922 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in physics as a result. He spoke often about how it was the dream that gave him the answer he searched for.
