Dream Theater - Progressive Rock
Dream Theater is a progressive rock band that was founded in 1986 by a collection of Berklee Music students in Boston, Massachusetts.
The band was originally called Majesty, but another band claimed first rights to that name. They therefore changed their name to Dream Theater, after a movie theater in California.
The band boasts many well known artists, including drummer Mike Portnoy, who has won many awards for his progressive drumming.
The band says that its influences are Metallica, Rush and Pink Floyd.
