Banning Asbestos Around the World

The US tried to ban asbestos back in 1989 - but the manufacturers filed a lawsuit and won. Since then various bills have been introduced to ban asbestos - and been squashed. Hopefully as more and more people develop symptoms of mesothelioma, we can finally get enough traction to get a ban to stick.

Australia has already banned asbestos. The European Union will complete its ban on mesothelioma by the end of 2005. Several other countries have banned asbestos as well.
