Printmaking Monoprints

Unique Works of Art

Printmaking is a classic form of art dating back to when humans could first whittle on wood and press objects into a dye. It comes in a variety of forms, but I am drawn to the monoprint style. In this style the artist creates a singular work of art which cannot be replicated. This counters against the woodblock style of printmaking (which I also happen to adore) where the artist makes a solid object and then can run off nearly unlimited prints from it. Woodblocks are beautiful - and yet I am still drawn to the one-of-a-kind, never-to-be-repeated spontaneous beauty of a monoprint.

These monoprints are created by layering paint and carving away space. Layering and carving. Each type of paper has its own reaction to the paints.

All of these monoprints are approximately 10" by 12" and are available for sale - contact me for details.

Thank you to Bob Evans for hosting this artistic project!
