Swordfighting Stance - Front Guard

Front guard is a middle guard. You start in a right stance.

Swordfighting left stance

Front guard holds the sword perpendicular to the ground, right in front of your eyes.

Swordfighting Front Guard stance

The sword is held so that the blade's edge is pointing towards your opponent, and the crossguard is just below eye level. You look across the crossguard at your opponent.

This guard is exactly the same in either stance, right or left. Your arms are loose.

Make sure the hand is "securely wrapped" on the sword in the sense that fingers are not out and flayed. If you have any pre-move motion, it becomes a tell that opponents will watch for to know you are about to attack. You want to move smoothly from this guard into the attack without any initial adjusting of fingers or elbows.
