Wed May 5 - Westin Nature Trail
Key Largo, Key West, Everglades Travelogue

Wednesday morning we woke up and made the provided Starbucks coffee - a great way to wake up! Bob was taking a little while to get ready so Jenn and I took our walky-talky and headed out onto the nature trail. It was very lovely, with interesting trees, ferns and lizards. I was convinced that the lizards were saying "Check" to me so I kept saying it back as we walked.

We walked along to a nice overlook with benches, where we saw an egret asleep in a nearby tree. Jenn says, "Isn't that 'check' coming from your purse?' It turns out that it was actually my walky-talky cycling every 30 seconds or so! So much for my friendly lizards :)

We walked a bit further down the trail and soon Bob chimed in on the walky talky that he was ready. We checked out with no problems and stopped in at the Waffle House again. They remembered us and were quite friendly! We were in two vehicles now - Jenn and I were in the Matrix and Bob was following us on his ST1300. Our plan was to head south until we reached the Key Deer / Blue Hole area on Big Pine Key and then stop.
