Parakeet Training and Care

Greetings, and welcome to my Parakeet Website! I provide almost 900 individual articles, photos and video files about parakeets for you to read and enjoy. I cover everything from choosing a new keet, determining your parakeet's gender, properly feeding and caring for your parakeet, dealing with group parakeet issues, and much more.

I have owned parakeets - also called budgies or keets - since I was a tiny toddler. I have a picture on this site of my mom's parakeet (named Gandalf), so she owned parakeets even before I was born. My great-aunt, who is in her late 80s, remembers having parakeets from when she was young. Parakeets are in our blood!

Over the years I have owned larger flocks and smaller groups. The eldest parakeets have been around age twelve. Parakeets can live far more than the 5-7 years a pet store can quote! Parakeets are intelligent, curious, acrobatic, and can learn to talk. They are the ultimate in fun!

There is a lot of mis-information on the web about parakeets, written based on knowledge from the 1950s and 60s. Always be cautious when believing any website that tells you to do something. I can tell you that the information I have here is kept fully up to date and is based on my 38+ years experience with these wonderful birds. I have verified everything in here with multiple vets.
