Parakeet with a Broken Leg

Just recently my parakeet broke its leg, by acciedent, it is just a baby, I just wanted to know how long it would take to heal, and if there is anything I can do to help, please e-mail me asap.

Yikes I would REALLY really contact a bird vet in the area and bring your parakeet in. If you had a real human baby with a broken leg, you wouldn't just let it heal at whatever strange angle it happened to be at, would you? A parakeet doesn't have many legs. It only has 2. And it has to use those 2 legs for EVERYTHING - moving around, sleeping, standing on, grabbing food to hold it. Those are its legs AND its arms and everything else. It is really really important that the parakeet's legs are both in good order.

If a parakeet has wing problems, well it can't fly. That's OK, many birds can't fly and still get through life OK. But if a parakeet has LEG problems, it can't really hop around on one foot. A damaged leg makes the entire life of the parakeet - from waking up to eating to moving to sleeping - very difficult. You really want to make sure this leg heals as well as possible.
