A Toy Fell on my Parakeet
User Question
Lisa's Answer
She might have sprained her wing or something. Can she fly now? If she can fly, and is as alert / chipper as usual then I'd just keep an eye on her. Birds are pretty light, and cages are pretty small, so she couldn't have fallen a gigantic distance. Toys usually aren't very heavy either. You figure baby birds fall out of their nests all the time and do OK, so it's not the worst thing that can happen to a bird.
But if she can't fly, or if she is acting sluggish or quieter than usual, then I'd definitely talk to the vet when he/she gets back from vacation. Birds try their best to hide injuries, so they aren't singled out by predators. Often it's just subtle signs that you notice that indicate something is really wrong.
