My Parakeet has Eye Fungus
User Question
Lisa's Answer
In any case, keeping the bird on its vitamins if that's what the vet recommended is definitely important. Many bird feathers react to vitamins by turning colors. For example, the whole reason flamingos have pink feathers has to do with minerals in their diet - if you feed them 'regular bird food' their pink color goes away. So I really wouldn't worry about this temporary pink color. Think of it as a cool hairdo for your keet. The important thing is that you get this eye fungus resolved so the budgie's eyes aren't damaged or destroyed. Once you get the fungus cleared up, you can take her off the vitamins and the color will undoubtedly return to normal.
