What Color is my Parakeet Cere?

User Question
My parakeet is mostly yellow...and I cant tell if they have blue or a brown cere. If you could tell me how I can find out that would be great!!

Lisa's Answer
LOL the only way you can tell what color your parakeet cere is is to look at it :) I can't tell through the mystical channels of the internet :) The way YOU know what color the cere is is to look at it with your eyes and see :)

Feather color has NO impact at all on the sex of a parakeet. All parakeets can be bred to be all colors.

I have a page on parakeet ceres here -

But cere color is only a guideline. The best way to know for sure if your parakeet is male or female is to ask your vet!
