Non Chlorinated Water
User Question getting a parakeet for about a month, and the information provided here has helped me decide to go for it :).
My question is about drinking and bathing water. I have read on other sites that birds need non-chlorinated drinking water. Do they also need non-chlorinated bathing water? You talk about bathing them in the sink or shower but you might have a well. If they do, will a terrarium water conditioner that removes chlorine, chloramines, and ammonia work for treating the bath water or not?
Thank-you very much for your time.

On the bathwater though, while they might sip a bit or two, they won't be drinking it down. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy botled water for the keet's bathtub. If you really want to buy a terrarium conditioner, then that should be fine - if it's good enough that creatures *live* in the water that results, it should be quite fine for a bird that just splashes around in it to clean her feathers.
