Bleeding Parakeet Wing

User Question
hi, i was cliping my parakeets wings and he tried to fly away and i

accidently cut too high, i think i cut a blood vessel because he was

bleeding. i put him back in his cage and the whole underside of his wing

is red with blood now. he's jumping around w/ the other birds like he

always does but im still worried. He saw the blood and is pecking under

his wing, maybe trying to clean the blood off. Do you have any advice?

Lisa's Answer
Always, always call a vet when blood loss is involved. Parakeets have tiny bodies and tiny amounts of blood in them. This wouldn't be a question for a website - this is when you pick up the phone immediately and get your bird to the vet!
