Visiting a Breeder in WA
User Question in finding a hand raised parakeet. I live in the Spokane, WA area. Do you know of any breeder in my area? I would like to drive to see birds. I know a lot of breeders don't ship and it costs a lot more. The pacific northwest area is good. Still driveable. Thank you for your info.

but I have to warn you that most breeders will NOT let visitors in, for very good reasons. Birds are very delicate and if you go in there with a disease - maybe one you don't know you have yet - you can easily kill off their entire flock. This is their livelihood, plus they care about their birds. So most breeders have very strict rules about letting external people anywhere near their cages. In fact if you found a breeder that DID let you near their cages, I would be worried.
I would ask for references and talk to other people who had bought their birds. That is far more meaningful than seeing the birds' cages.
