The Parakeets Don't Play with Toys

I just got my first 2 parakeets about 2 weeks ago. One is a boy and the

other is a girl. I just added the first toy in the cage and they don't

seem to be playing with it. It's one of those colorful toys with the bell.

I dont understand why they dont want to play with it. They had one in the

Petland cage.

Remember, you parakeets are still in shock from changing locations, with a new cage and everything else. Just think if a giant hand lifted you from your bedroom, put you into a new room and then dropped a GIANT object into the new room with you. You'd be rather scared!!

You should just start the keets out with a simple cage, somewhere quiet, and be very low key. Then SLOWLY introduce new objects to them as they get settled in over a few weeks. You should always let the keets see a new toy for a few days - by putting it near their cage - before you actually plunk it IN their home :)
