Allergies and Parakeets

Are budgies really bad for people with allergies if they dont go near them

or touch them and arent in the room where they are kept often?? thank you

People aren't just allergic to everything :) If you were, then how could you eat anything? Different people are allergic to different things. Some people die if they eat peanuts. Other people sneeze when they're near cut grass. We all have different allergies. So sure, a few people are allergic to parakeets. But there's no real way to know until you're around one.

Go to a pet store and hang out by the parakeet cage for 15 or 20 minutes. Do you break out sneezing? If not, then I don't imagine that having a cage near you will be trouble. You clean the cage weekly, it doesn't sit there and gather feathers. But you really need to find that out before you bring a parakeet home. Parakeets are flock animals that thrive on affection and attention. If you intend never to go near them or touch them, that's not much of a life for a parakeet ...
