10 Month Old Parakeet is Biting Me

User Question
Hi, I have had a budgie parakeet for ten months. I was wondering if you have any info on how to stop bitting. He bites so hard he breaks skin!! I really need your help

Lisa's Answer
Parakeets only bite when they are feeling threatened. Their beak is their only way to defend themselves. Make sure you're following the hand training method step by step - your parakeet shouldn't be near your hand until he is thoroughly comfortable with the idea. I have more information here -

patience and daily training are the only cure for biting!
