Buying a Second Parakeet

User Question
HI, Thanks for your site. We just bought a second parakeet Friday. The lady

at the pet store told us that if we keep them in the same cage that they

will become attached to each other and not want human contact. Do you

recommend that they are in the same cage or seperate cages. We inherited a

second cage and we have them in seperate cages now, but would like to put

them in the same cage.

I actually have an entire page on getting a second parakeet here -

you always want them in separate cages to start with, no matter what your long term intentions. Parakeets can be quite territorial and just tossing strangers together can be very stressful. You want this relationship to be as calm and easy as possible!
