Hand Training - It's Afraid

User Question
I am trying to hand train my parakeet, i think its about a year old. (I was too impatient before so I stopped). If i put my hand in the cage when its closed its runs away once then jumps on my hand. But i know its still afraid of my hand. When its on my hand and i try to move it out of the cage its jumps back to the cage.

I just put my hand in the cage and follow it around untill it jumps on my hand (usually 2nd try).

Am i doing anything wrong because its been like this for 2 weeks. thanks

I have my hand training advice here -

it sounds like you lept ahead in the training if you are having to chase the bird around with your hand. Go back a step and make sure she's very comfortable with the moving perch and stepping onto it. If you are chasing your bird, you're adding stress into her life and she is feeling threatened. You want her to get onto your hand because she actively wants to go to it - not because she's afraid of it and doesn't want it to hurt her.
