Parakeets and Poop

User Question
My mom is afraid of letting my parakeet out of it's cage because she

thinks it'll poop everywhere. Is there anyway to potty train my parakeet

somehow?

Lisa's Answer
I have a page on parakeet poop here -

http://www.lisashea.com/petinfo/articles/bird_poop.html

but it's not like your keet will be out of its cage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You'll just take it out occasionally to play with him. When you do, you can put a paper towel beneath its perch. The bird isn't going to be hovering in the air like a helicopter the entire time :) It'll find a perch it likes and hang out there. When you put the bird back into its cage, you just toss that towel into the trash.
