One Bird - Adding In Two More

User Question
First, Thank you! Your site has helped me a lot.

I have a question though...My parakeet (Zeb) has been with me for about 6 months and I have someone who wants to give me her 2 parakeets. She has a seperate cage for them and is willing to give it to me.

Should I keep them in a seperate cage from Zeb or should I put the 3 birds all together? What if they dont get along? The cage isn't big enough for 3 birds anyway, but should i get a larger one so they can all be together?

thanx a lot

I have a page on adding in a second and third bird here -

definitely a second cage is best just for the reason you mentioned - in case they don't get along. If they DO get along you can always let them slowly mingle in together, but you want to take it slowly and patiently.
