Parakeet Bitings Its Cage

User Question
My parakeet has a bad habit of biting its cage. I give it a few toys but it rarely uses them at all. It only bites that same spot and I can't get it to stop.

btw, my parakeet's head is orange from chewing an orange mineral block. It looks cool :D

Lisa's Answer
That's odd, your cage is metal? Parakeets love to gnaw, like you see with the orange metal block. But parakeets normally gnaw wood things - not metal bars.

If your parakeet wants more things to chew, I'd get her a toy with lots of wood, and another cuttlebone or two of different shapes and sizes. Also make sure you give her lots of types of food - some lettuce, some broccoli, etc. That will give her lots of fun things to chew and enjoy :)
