Breeding Without a Breeding Box

User Question
I got a what appears to be a female budgie and we went out and bought her a male friend. I don't care if they breed or not, I just enjoy having my new pets, but my question to you is will they breed if they do not have a breeding box?

Lisa's Answer
Yes most definitely, animals instinctively like to have sex. It's sort of like asking if humans will have sex without being married. Some want to wait, others don't care at all. If you have a male and a female, they might want to have sex daily. Or they might never get interested in sex. It all depends on the personalities of the birds.

If you are going to keep a male and female together you really have to assume that babies might occur.

I have more information on breeding here -

but in short, make sure you do as much research and studying as possible, get both birds checked out by a vet, and have the equipment and foods necessary just in case.
