My Keet Screeches and Won't Eat
User Question parakeet f.a.q page.
Our 2year old budgie has started screeching a lot recently and although he looks healthy enough we dont know why he is suddenly doing this, one clue he only wants to eat when we hold his food bowl up to him otherwise he attacks the bowl until it is nearly empty and 10 minutes after we clean his cage it is completely scattered with the new food. He eats premium seed with all the trimmings and has been on this since we bought him, other wise he seems healthy enough .
we also have another budgie who is in a separate cage and fed on the same food,he is ok. any help would be appreciated .thanks,
p.s. we tried changing the bowl,it didn,t help.
Lisa's Answer
Remember, seeds are not a full, healthy diet. Keets in the wild don't just eat seed. They eat a wide variety of foods. It could be that your keet is desperate for some lettuce or tomato or other healthy fruits and vegetables. Try to offer other things as well, to give a more rounded diet to your keet. Always have daily fresh water, too.
